Villa Zvizdan offers our guests contemporary design and maximum comfort with a local touch.

The villa concept is called Fingers House because it reminds of two hands standing above each other facing the Adriatic Sea. The thinking behind the villa design was to create a modern object that will draw inspiration from the surrounding area.

The house faces the south, in order to emphasize the Adriatic Sea. Thanks to this, our guests have a beautiful view of the islands of Hvar, Brač and the Pelješac peninsula. To the north, facing the Biokovo mountain, the house is less open because of strong north winds that Dalmatia is famous for (locally known as bura). Because of specific climate conditions, most notably salt and wind, we used the traditional white Mediterranean house colour. This is also the colour of the famous Brač island stone.

The interior design is retro-minimalist, aimed at providing maximum comfort while being pleasing to the eye at the same time.

Special attention was payed to the interaction between the interior and exterior, having in mind that the guests will be using the pool area a lot during their stay.

When naming Villa Zvizdan, we also wanted to add a local flavour and present the local state of mind. The word zvizdan is the perfect representative of the Dalmatian state of mind. It is one of those words that are untranslatable in one word or even a sentence for that matter. Maybe the closest one would be high sun. But zvizdan is more of a condition. During the summer in Dalmatia, when temperatures rise above 35 degrees, whole life dies. No human activity is visible. Everyone is looking for any kind of shade. They only hear crickets. This condition is ZVIZDAN.

The physicist and inventor Amos Dolbear found that the chirping frequency is in a linear relation with the temperature. This means that as the cricket chirps faster, the temperature increases. Nowadays, this is known as Dolbears’ law. The formula states that the number of crickets chirping in 40 minutes subtracted, then divided by 7, and by adding 10, gets the correct temperature. When crickets start chirping, it is safe to say that the temperature went from warm to hot. It can be concluded that the comfort (or discomfort) of the human body is in a way consistent with cricket’s song.

Therefore, make the most of your time here and listen to the sound of the crickets. There is nothing similar in the world to this sound. And when you hear it, you will know that you are in Dalmatia. Enjoy this very special state of mind.
